BT-S2 Lost Circulation Materials
Overviews
Cure lost circulation and reduce drilling costs. Avoid stuck pipe, mud losses, and remedial work with our effective, customized solutions. First, we identify the type and cause of the lost circulation problem:
Loss into a naturally fractured rock requires a different treatment than loss into porous or vuggy formations. A complex balance exists among the pore pressure in multiple layers, fracturing pressure, and hydrostatic head of the well fluid. BT-S2 advanced fiber cement is engineered to an optimal size for sealing loss zones. This is an inert, fibrous material capable of forming a network across the loss zone, allowing you to regain and maintain circulation. The fibers can be used in the slurry pumped across the zone where you expect losses. When circulated across these zones, the fibers in the cement create a physical network, bridging and sealing the zones. The result is resumed cement circulation during treatment. When BT-S2 fibers are not used, operators must pump excess cement if they anticipate losses to fractures, fissures, vugs or highly porous zones. By adding BT-S2 fibers to your existing cementing program, you can be more successful in cement placement. You can eliminate excess cement costs and remedial cementing operations to repair low cement tops.
